Description

This stretch of the Colorado winds through the high country mountains. The mountains along this stretch of the Colorado river are somewhat barren, but it's still a nice scenic stretch of river. At least 15 miles of the Colorado river above Dotsero is pretty tame and you won't come across anything worse than a couple of very short stretches of class two rapids as long as the flow is less than 2,000 CFS.

There are plenty of easy access points along the river as Colorado River Road runs alongside the river here. The are no obstructions in this part of the Colorado.

Warnings, Tips, & Other Details

Put in is on the east side of the river, wherever you choose. Take out is on the left side of the river right after you go under the only bridge structure. There are about four different very small sections of rapids up to a class two in this fifeteen mile section and if you are not comfortable going through them, portage around them is relatively easy. At 1500 CFS you can cover about two miles an hour on this part of the river.
