Map of Pirates Cove
Description
Pirates Cove is a small cove in the sound (intercoastal waterway) that is mostly surrounded by a group of small islands.
This area is one of the most scenic places in all of Mary Esther or Fort Walton Beach to go canoeing or kayaking. Most of the
area around pirates cove is very shallow water from a few inches deep to about 4 feet. Because of this, it's hard to navigate anything bigger than a
canoe or kayak into this area. There are some deep channels so it is possible to get a small boat in it. There is a thin strip of land that seperates
Pirates Cove from the beach on the gulf.
There are 3 ways to navigate into the cove. The islands in the area are mostly covered with grass but also
have a few trees so they are easy to walk around on or if you're looking for somewhere to go camping and pitch a tent, there are plenty of good spots.
There are a few canoe and kayak rental operations on the sound (intercoastal waterway). There is also a pontoon boat rental
place in Fort Walton Beach, on the sound. Really nice guy and good prices on his rentals.
