Intracoastal Waterway Between Seminole & Indian Shores, FL

Pictures, Videos and Information

Location

Seminole, FL is in Pinellas county.

Description

The ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) between Seminole, FL and Indian Shores, FL is often referred to as "the narrows". There are a few man made canals in the ICW in this area. There is also a natural "back bay" area that is seperated from the main part of the ICW by a long mangrove barrier island. There are also some mangrove tunnel areas on the west side of the ICW here. Since I live here, I go canoeing / kayaking in this area very regularly. During the summer months I see manatee almost every other time I go out.

I also see dolphin most of the time I go out. There are a couple of parks, such as Boca Ciega Park where you can launch your kayak or canoe. There is also a dirt road on the NW side of Walsingham bridge where you can park and launch your boat. It is not an actual boat ramp but it's an easy spot to put a canoe in and you can drive right up to the waters edge.
