Map of Grand Lake

Description

Grand Lake is a medium sized lake. There is a boat ramp at the lake but no canoe or other boat rentals operations. There is some development around the lake but it is still very scenic and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. There is a bridge that seperates Grand Lake from Shadow Mountain reservoir that you can pass under in a small boat. The width of this passage way is about 14 feet. Grand Lake has very easy access.

It is the deepest natural lake in Colorado. The lake has some awesome mountain backdrops. There are often moose and elk around the lake. Two different creeks feed into Grand Lake. The eastern side of the lake is a good place to see moose and elk as well as bald eagles. One of my favorite river trips is on Adams Creek, one of the creeks that lead into the lake.

Warnings, Tips, & Other Details

Grand Lake is a deep, and cold lake. If the winds are forecasted to be over 15 MPH then you probably don't want to be out there in a canoe or kayak.
